Brazil's booming economy in the last few years has helped our theaters by record breaking ticket sales year after year. In 2009 ticket sales for domestically produced film has risen dramatically to 6 million tickets, representing a 150% growth over 2008, the biggest increase in six years.
This consolidated the foundations we need and even better year in 2010, with several high profile projects in production, including TvZERO's own Bruna - The Sweet Poison of The Scorpion and the construction of over 500 new screens.
The growth of our domestic film industry means we are building better facilities and having a more specialized work-force able to deal with foreign productions. Besides countless Tv Commercials and Shows that are shot here each year, we've seen two high profile films being shot in our country in the last few years. The first was Hulk, with Edward Norton and in 2009 Silvester Stallone's The Expendables.
Rio Governor's and Mayor's Office have seen that foreign production help our economy, and they have put their weight behind the Rio Film Commission, headed by former MPA Latin America VP Steve Solot. This shows commitment of our politicians to welcome foreign productions here, and TvZERO is an important part of this plan.
We're able to tap into funds made for international productions, we work routinely with the best professionals in the Brazilian film industry, and because we have a documentary heritage we have a top logistic team to assist in travels to remote areas of the country.
If you plan to shoot in Rio, or elsewhere in Brazil, don't hesitate to contact us.
